Our membership tiers provide benefits relevant across the entire spectrum of companies, academic institutions, nonprofits, government partners, and research laboratories. Members have access to novel research, project funding, unique partnerships, and a pipeline to reach the current and future workforce. We encourage members to directly contribute to the success of BioMADE by working with us on committees and subcommittees focused on strategic, technical, and workforce development.

 Frequently Asked Questions about BioMADE Membership

  • For BioMADE Project Calls, membership is required at the time of white paper submission for the lead organization. For partnering organizations, membership will be required in the form of a signed membership agreement or letter of commitment to join BioMADE at the time of the full proposal submission. All organizations on the project team will need to be BioMADE members during the course of the project.

  • Yes, BioMADE encourages teaming among organizations. To facilitate the formation of project teams, we request information about capabilities, equipment, and areas of research interest from member organizations. Organizations are also encouraged to indicate what holes they are trying to fill with a partnership. Organizations should not include any proprietary or confidential information in the teaming slides, and we encourage current members to reach out directly to the point of contact listed to initiate a partnership. Current members can view the Teaming slides that were submitted for our Second Project Call (now closed) through their Box account or by contacting hello@biomade.org.

    The timing for sharing teaming organizations varies by the status of Project Calls. BioMADE will facilitate additional teaming opportunities in advance of future project calls.

  • R1 and R2 universities must join at the Participating or Governing Tier. The Training tier is generally reserved for community colleges.

  • Members can join at any point in the year. Membership is a twelve-month term that begins on the date of the fully executed membership agreement.

  • The in-kind dues are intended to encourage member participation and are to be fulfilled by the end of the twelve-month membership cycle. In-kind dues may include the value of time and travel for BioMADE-related activities (e.g. committee participation, annual meeting attendance), materials, equipment, and other elements of cost.
